Books in My Life

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.
Chinese Proverb.

It`s common knowledge that proverbs are wise and memorable sayings. There is a Chinese proverb above, which I do agree with. A garden can be beautiful, with lots of flourishing flowers and fruit trees; you may be impressed by the charm of that kind of a garden. While reading a book, you may be delighted with the book`s plot that might have lots of twists and turns. A fruit tree bears fruits, a book makes you think.

I get a kick out of reading and I have no the will power to give up reading, but I don`t read just everything that I haveat hand. I enjoy rereading the novels written by my favourite authors night and day. When I have free time, I strive to find out something new about modern literature and modern writers. I often go to the book shop in my city - Saratov - to buy books which I will read then at home, I know for sure that I will plunge into the atmosphere of the novel and while reading I will learn something important that will help me to change my mind concerning this or that subject or it will help me to cope with some troubles in my real life. You know, believe it or not, but recently I have bought some books written by Paulo Coelho and I have found the answers to my questions - maybe this is only coincidence, though Paulo Coelho writes that there is no coincidence in our lives, everything is interconnected: the first event causes the second event, the second causes the third and so on.

Books and reading - these words sound like magic for me; I spent almost every free minute reading a new book or rereading my favourites. So, it`s easy to catch me reading again and again. To cut a long story short I should say that books help me a lot:

1. I just relax, while reading a book.

2. I learn something new or interesting.

3. I find the answers to the questions I have.

4. A book can make me think about changes in my life and even make me change something.

Therefore, any book is a real garden for me in the pocket, because the knowledge I get from the book can`t be heavy certainly and I can bear it in my mind, the book can be interesting with a gripping plot and its beauty then can be compared to the flourishing garden. Anyway, I suppose those who like reading very much can understand me and understand what I mean perfectly.

Общеизвестный факт, что пословицы - это мудрые и легко запоминающиеся высказывания. "Книга подобна саду, который можно носить в кармане" - китайская пословица, с которой я не могу не согласиться. Сад может быть красивым с большим количеством цветов и плодовых деревьев; такой сад вас очарует. Читая книгу, можно восхищаться ее магией, сюжет которой может быть очень интересным, с неожиданным развитием. Плодовое дерево приносит плоды, а книга заставляет думать.

Я получаю удовольствие от того, что читаю, и у меня нет желания перестать читать книги, но я также не читаю все подряд, что попадается мне под руку. Очень часто я перечитываю романы, написанные моими любимыми авторами. Когда у меня есть свободное время, я стремлюсь узнать что-то новое о современной литературе и современных авторах. Я часто захожу в книжный магазин в моем городе - Саратове - чтобы купить книги, которые я прочитаю потом дома, и всегда знаю наверняка, что "с головой уйду" в роман. Из книг я узнаю что-то важное, что помогает мне изменить свое отношение к тем или иным проблемам в жизни. Также книги помогают мне справиться с некоторыми проблемами в жизни. Верите вы этому или нет, но недавно я купила несколько книг Пауло Коэльо, и я нашла ответы на свои вопросы - возможно, это только совпадение, хотя Пауло Коэльо пишет, что в жизни не бывает совпадений и случайностей, все взаимосвязано: одно событие порождает другое, другое порождает третье и так далее.

Книги и чтение - эти слова для меня как волшебство; почти каждую свободную минуту я провожу за чтением новой книги или перечитываю мои любимые книги. Так как я почти всегда читаю, то меня легко застать за чтением интересной книги. В двух словах, могу сказать, что книги мне очень помогают:

1. Я отдыхаю, когда читаю.

2. Я узнаю что-то новое или интересное.

3. Я нахожу ответы на свои вопросы в книгах.

4. Книга может заставить меня подумать об изменениях в жизни и даже заставить меня изменить что-то.

Поэтому, любая книга - для меня действительно подобна саду, который можно положить в карман, потому что знания, которые я получаю из книг, не могут быть тяжелыми, о полученных уроках из книг легко помнить; книга может быть интересной с захватывающим сюжетом, и ее красота тогда может быть сравнима с цветущим садом. Так или иначе, я думаю, что меня хорошо понимают те, кто очень любит читать.

Reading books is a very important role in the life of people. It educates a person, enriches his intellect. Books bring pleasure and delight. I consider that books are with us during all our life. When I was a child my parents read them to me, I was pleased to listen to the stories and tales. I have learned a lot of interesting things from books since then. Now I like to read books on science. I am keen on reading the great variety of encyclopedias, reference books, technical magazines, etc.

People are fond of reading different kinds of books. Some people enjoy reading detective stories, adventure stories, novels, biographies, other prefer classics. Fairy tales are enjoyed and read by children, books about adventures and journeys are enjoyed by those who are fond of traveling. Legends and myths are read by those who are fond of history.

Sometimes we read the same book again and again. It"s a wonderful way of spending spare time. Thanks to books we learn to express our thoughts and feelings more exactly. The book is faithful and understanding friend. It can be put aside and taken up again at any moment. You can gain knowledge on many things from books. Books awaken the young reader"s imagination. They teach the readers to be truthful, friendly, honest, careful, fair and serious.

Books shouldn"t be read only by pleasure. Reading books helps us in our education. Libraries play an important part in the cultural development of people. We can find all kinds of books in the libraries. In some libraries we can even find books in many foreign languages.

I am sure that books play a very important role in my life. Our family has got many books. All the members of our family buy books and read them. My mother says that books help us in self-education. Books must be our friends during all our life. Books are worth reading!

Польза не во многих, но в хороших книгах. Читая такую впервые, мы испытываем такое же чувство, как при обретении нового друга. Прочитать старую книгу вновь — означает снова увидеть старого друга. So, how many "old friends" do you have?

Books are wonderful! They accompany us during all our life. When you read you enrich your mind and broaden your knowledge. People who read books are intelligent. Books are also an entertainment. You and the characters of the book you are reading can find yourselves in different countries and have a lot of adventures. Just imagine — new characters, scenes, lives, events! It"s like real life in miniature!
A book can be a faithful friend and a teacher. Reading a book you open new horizons for yourself. A book can form our values and characters. It gives us an opportunity to imagine the future and to look into the past. One can learn a lot by reading books. And I am sure that the time spent on a good book is never wasted. Too bad people started to read less. But it, of course, depends on the author greatly as well, on his or her talent.
Books are of great help in any education. With the help of the Internet, we can find and read online almost any book or literary piece on the Internet. And I find it quite convenient because it saves a lot of time. But I’m sure that no matter how convenient it is to get a book online, there is still no bigger pleasure than reading a printed one.
I’m fond of reading different genres like historical novels, detectives or science fiction, tales and legends. In my small library at home, I have some printed books which are important to me. Books like Alice in Wonderland, Lord of the Rings, Life of Alexander the Great and others. I like to re-read them from time to time, sometimes I make some notes on their pages and just smell the scent of childhood and magic.
Never forget that books are worth reading.

Вы и персонажи читаемой книги можете побывать в разных странах и испытать множество приключений. Просто представьте — новые персонажи, сцены, жизни, события! Это как настоящая жизнь в миниатюре!
Книга может быть верным другом и учителем. Читая книгу, вы открываете для себя новые горизонты. Она может сформировать наши ценности и характеры. Она дает нам возможность представить будущее и заглянуть в прошлое. Можно многому научиться, читая книги. И я уверена, что время, потраченное на хорошую книгу, никогда не пропадает даром. Очень жаль, что люди стали меньше читать.
Книги помогают в любом образовании. С помощью Интернета мы можем найти и прочитать онлайн практически любую книгу или литературный фрагмент. И я нахожу этот способ довольно удобным, так как это экономит много времени. Но я уверена, что независимо от того, насколько удобно достать книгу в Интернете, до сих пор нет большего удовольствия, чем чтение печатной книги.
Мне очень нравится читать разные жанры: исторические романы, детективы, научную фантастику, сказки и легенды. У меня есть несколько печатных книг в моей небольшой домашней библиотеке, которые важны для меня. Книги, как Алиса в стране чудес, Властелин колец, Жизнь Александра Великого и другие. Мне нравится перечитывать их время от времени. Иногда я делаю пометки на страницах и просто вдыхаю запах детства и волшебства.
Никогда не забывайте, что книги стоят того, чтобы их читали.

Nowadays it"s almost impossible to imagine our life without books. Perhaps, there are more books on our planet than men alive.

The same could be said in favour of detective stories. They reveal such minute details of everyday life in this or that particular country that are of greatest interest for a curious reader. The masterpieces of this genre by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and others, show the depths of psychological analysis, the insight into the human nature.

As an old saying goes, man cannot live on bread alone. Books are the source of knowledge and the means of self - perfection. Sometimes it is difficult to solve some problems in life. I think that books can help us. Books must be our friends during all our life.

Сегодня почти невозможно представить нашу жизнь без книг. Наверное, на нашей планете больше книг, чем людей.

До изобретения книгопечатания люди считали книги сокровищницей человеческого знания и опыта. Рукописи писались месяцами, собирались и хранились в монастырях с благоговением. Существует три типа книг.

Прежде всего это книги различных отраслей знаний, работы блестящих умов человечества. Затем это учебники, справочники и множество словарей. И в конце концов? книги всех видов и жанров для чтения на досуге.

Серьезные книги должны читаться вдумчиво и, может быть, не один раз. Думающему читателю они дадут пищу для размышлений каждый раз, когда он перечитывает их. Многие люди увлекаются чтением фантастики, в том числе научной, или детективов. Конечно, есть свои преимущества и недостатки у этого вида литературы, относящегося к «легкому чтиву».

На мой взгляд, хорошая фантастика развивает воображение, логическое мышление, расширяет кругозор.

То же самое может быть сказано в защиту детективов. Они описывают такие мелкие детали повседневной жизни той или иной страны, которые очень интересны любопытному читателю. Шедевры этого жанра сэра Артура Конан Дойла, Агаты Кристи и других показывают глубины психологического анализа, проникновения в человеческую натуру.

Как говорится в старой пословице, не хлебом единым жив человек. Книги - источник знания и средство самосовершенствования. Иногда очень трудно решить некоторые жизненные проблемы. Я думаю, что книги помогают нам в этом. Книги должны быть нашими друзьями на протяжении всей жизни.

Any book is a wonderful thing! Just imagine – it may seem that it’s just paper pages with a cover and letters inside, sometimes with pictures. But the moment you start reading a book the whole new world opens to you! New characters, scenes, lives, events. It’s like real life in miniature. So, a book is truly one of the greatest inventions of man. We learn so many things by reading books. Books teach us to live. A book can be a faithful friend and a teacher. Reading a book you open new horizons for yourself. A book can form our values and our characters. It gives us an opportunity to imagine the future and to look into the past. One can learn a lot by reading books. And I am sure that the time spent on a good book is never wasted. And it’s really a pity that people started to read less. But it, of course, depends on the author greatly too and on his or her talent.

Different people like to read different kinds of it. It depends on one’s character and taste. Some people prefer fiction (novels, stories, short stories), some prefer detectives or science fiction. Others like historical books. Girls and women prefer love stories. Children like comics very much.

As for me, I’m personally fond of reading books. I like reading fiction.

I prefer reading science fiction. It is so interesting to read books by George Herbert Wells or Isaac Asimov. They speak about such things that have become real. How did they know? How could they know? That’s a mystery and it is what makes science fiction interesting and fascinating.
